LPG Tanks are serviced every 10 years, as part of the process they are firstly emptied and then purged with nitrogen to remove hydrocarbon fumes. The purging allows essential maintenance work to be carried out without the risk of explosion.
The Dalco nitrogen generating system replaces high pressure MCP’s (Multiple Cylinder Packs) which were expensive, time consuming and logistically demanding due to the constant loading and unloading.
Gasweld use a Dalco nitrogen generating system producing 57 Nm3/hr at 5 barg. The generation system is loaded to a skid system, using an electrical supply from a diesel compressor to make the system fully independent. The system also produces breathing air quality air.
According to Ted Deed of Gasweld Industries,
‘The cost of hiring nitrogen packs, and medical grade oxygen for breathing purposes has been eliminated and the savings for to Gasweld Industries are estimated at approximately $180,000 Australian dollars per annum.
It is expected that the incurred costs will be recovered in 12-18 months.
